With a crisp breeze gently caressing my soul, I stroll in the cool morning light relinquishing my thoughts of a sleepless night. Nature whispers in my ear as the collection of wings flutter and dance in harmonized fashion with joyful song.
The trail is winding back and forth like the unbridled path of my life. Once again the smell of nectar fill my senses with tasteful pleasure.
The journey is long, but my legs repeat step after step as the body directs. A lonely loon cries out on the fog covered lake a warning to others of a stranger aloft. Currents of life fill the air of a once barren space. A shadow emerges checking me out, then off to hide from this intruder. Alone I am as I look for meaning and comfort. Will I enter the darkness as did the rest or wander the earth for eternity. Without love, without you there is no purpose, no life, no light.
Turn after turn, uphill and down with nothing to find in a world gone wrong. A tall dark shadow emerges from the darkened forest blocking my path. A faceless statue cloaked and silent, waiting for a soul he cannot have. Starring beyond the motionless figure there is no life, no earth no fight. Succumb to the darkness, to find the light nevermore.
This is the present, and the past is gone, tomorrow may bring hope, but without others what would it be. What did my life mean, what was its purpose? Yet who will remember?
